As we all know, the spindle motor is the heart of the machining center. But there will still be a lot of things that bring disaster to the machining center because of improper operation.

Therefore, we asked some professional engineers and recorded the following 8 major precautions (there are some differences between different types of spindle motors, so the following is for reference only!):

1. Please connect to the inverter power supply according to the voltage input required by the actual inverter. And the power supply connected to the inverter must be filtered and stabilized to ensure that the voltage connected to the inverter does not fluctuate.

2. Can not subject the spindle to any form of impact in any direction. Because it will destroy the dynamic balance even cause damage to the bearing and affect the service life of the spindle.

3. Each spindle can be sealed after ventilation. For the sealing gas flow, please refer to the parameters on the spindle housing label (the sealing air pressure must be strictly controlled). Because excessive air pressure destroys the grease or lubrication system of the bearing. And the bearing loses lubrication and the bearing will be damaged at high speed. If the air pressure is too small, the sealing effect will not be achieved.

In addition, for the tool change air pressure at the rear end of the spindle, refer to the parameters on the label on the spindle housing. When the tool change pressure is greater than the parameter on the spindle housing label, the gas will act as a cleaning cone. Especially for the ceramic ferrule grinding process, the cone surface must be cleaned regularly.

What’s more, it is recommended to use a pneumatic valve (with pressure gauge) to adjust the air pressure. And the air pressure regulating valve must be installed close to the spindle sealing air port to ensure that the sealing air pressure is within the specified range. Moreover, the tool change gas and sealing gas entering the spindle must be filtered to achieve the requirements of drying and dust-free.

4. Please use the matching professional tools when disassembling the collet. Pay attention to the shelf life of the spindle. If the bearing is damaged due to human reasons, the supplier may not perform warranty treatment. If there is any problem with the spindle, do not disassemble it.

5. The relevant parameter settings such as tool selection and spindle speed must be determined according to the on-site cutting conditions.

6. Use the cable supplied with the supplier for the drive cable of the spindle. But not make the cable that does not meet the requirements.

7. It is recommended to use the water cooling device for heat dissipation and cooling of the spindle. At the same time, it is necessary to check the operation of the water cooling device regularly. If it is abnormal, please stop using the spindle immediately, and check and repair it before use.

8. Please note that the tapered surface of the collet used must be kept clean and free from scratches, otherwise the accuracy of the taper surface of the spindle rotor will be changed, resulting in the inability to lock the tool and cause the tool to fall or break.
